The Easter Celebrations
Holy Friday: A day of solemn beauty and quiet devotion. The Epitaph procession passes in front of Euphoria Retreat, as candles illuminate the evening and hymns rise softly into the air.
Holy Saturday: Anticipation builds as midnight approaches. Church bells ring, candles are lit, and the proclamation of the Resurrection fills the night with light. A sacred stillness gives way to joy.
Easter Sunday: The culminating celebration. Festive tables, shared laughter, music and revelry accompany the traditional flavours, as reverence transforms into warmth, community, and heartfelt joy.
Surrounded by centuries old Byzantine churches and sacred sites, the spirit of Easter in Mystras feels both timeless and deeply moving.
The Easter Menus
Our Easter cuisine is a tribute to spring itself: bright, fresh, and full of aroma.
The menus are inspired by Greek Easter traditions and the abundance of the season. Local ingredients, fragrant herbs, pure olive oil, and seasonal vegetables come together in authentic dishes that are deeply satisfying.
On Holy Saturday evening, the traditional ‘mageiritsa’ soup marks the joyful transition from fasting to celebration. On Easter Sunday, roasted lamb takes centre stage, honouring one of Greece’s most cherished culinary customs.
Across the Easter days, we offer distinct culinary experiences so that every gathering carries its own rhythm and flavour. Each meal becomes a nourishing celebration: joyful, elegant, and balanced.
The Surrounding Sanctuary
The Landscape: Terraced slopes overlooking the Byzantine village, with sweeping views and open sky.
The Gardens: Fragrant citrus trees, herbs and flowers in bloom, filling the air with soft, fresh aromas.
The Private Forest: Shaded pathways, wind moving gently through the branches, and the soft echo of birdsong.
Here, nature itself becomes the guide into your own inner spring, where stillness, light, and open horizons gently awaken a renewed sense of self.
