From the moment you take your first steps in the Euphoria Retreat spa, its front door angled to just the right degree to maximise its Feng shui, your journey begins. Built into the mountainside so that it becomes – quite literally – one with nature, it rises over four levels. Each is designed to represent a distinct passage in your transformational process, until you emerge fully revitalised and rebalanced.
The mood shifts and the temperature drops even as you enter – just enough for the Byzantine domes and curves of the spa reception to take on a different mood to elsewhere in the resort. The consultation and therapy rooms inspire intimacy and reflection, and even the changing rooms possess a monastic charm. Once in the Pilates and gym studios, the atmosphere lifts and the energy levels soar. And you still haven’t even left the ground floor.
Joining all four levels is a spiral staircase that doubles as a 25m deep Waterwell, with hot and cold footbaths at its base, offering yin and yang elements as well as the therapeutic effect of hydrotherapy. Indeed, the effect of water – and its elemental association with birth and contemplation – permeates all aspects of the spa.
Dominating the first floor is the innovative Sphere Pool, whose curved walls are lined with hydrotherapy jets and in-water benches. The invigorating effects of the Tepidarium, Byzantine Hammam, Watsu Pool, Steam Room, Cold Plunge and circular Finnish Sauna follow, along with a beautifully appointed relaxation area and spa garden that allow you to fully unwind and soak up the benefits of everything you have just experienced.
More treatment and relaxation areas await on the second floor, before the spa experience reaches its zenith. The yoga and meditation rooms on the top floor open onto an area that not only contains space for outdoor exercise and a California Hot Tub, but also offers panoramic views of the valley and the surrounding private forest.
A truly holistic journey of body, mind and soul.
